Christmas wishlist

In Ukraine Christmas is celebrated on 25 December. Gifts are chosen within the family, so it helps to plan them early. Make one wishlist and send the link to your family, and everyone sees what has already been taken.

What should you give for Christmas?

People happily give things that add comfort at Christmas: a warm throw, books, tea and sweets, candles, board games for a family evening. Kids like building sets and picture books, adults like things for the home. If someone dislikes surprises, a wishlist removes the risk: the gift comes from their own list.

What budget should a Christmas gift have?

A rough split looks like this. Small items up to 300 UAH: tea, a candle, a card with a gift. Mid-range items at 500-1500 UAH: a throw, a board game, a nicely printed book. Pricier items from 2000 UAH work well as a group gift. These are examples with no market statistics behind them, so adjust the sums to your own family.

How do you avoid buying the same Christmas gift twice?

Send the wishlist link to the family chat. Everyone opens it without an account and sees what is still free. To reserve a gift they sign in quickly without a password, using an email link or Google. After that the item shows as taken, and there will not be two identical throws under the tree.

How do you split the cost of a big Christmas gift?

Add an expensive item to the list, say a coffee machine or a large board game, and say in the chat that it is a group gift. One organiser reserves it, collects money from whoever wants to join and buys it. The others see it is already in progress. Agree on the sums among yourselves, Bazha does not collect money.

Do you need a separate Christmas list if you already have a St. Nicholas Day list?

You can keep one list. Assign small things to St. Nicholas Day, 6 December, and bigger ones to Christmas, 25 December, and say in the chat what is meant for which date. A separate Christmas list also works when the guests differ: close family gives on St. Nicholas Day, and friends and distant relatives join at Christmas.

Who is a Christmas wishlist for?

It helps big families where several generations gather and everyone wants to give something of their own. Grandparents see what has been chosen and do not repeat what the grandchildren give, and relatives who live far away order a gift online knowing it will not be duplicated. Children can make their own list, and adults can leave a few small things under 300 UAH.

A sample Christmas list

  • Tea and a box of sweets: 250-500 UAH
  • A warm throw: 700-1500 UAH
  • A board game for the whole family: 600-1200 UAH
  • A book in a gift edition: 400-900 UAH
  • A coffee machine, as a group gift: from 4000 UAH

The amounts are rough guides. Store prices vary.

When should you send the Christmas list?

Two or three weeks before the holiday, which means early December. Relatives then have time to order, and you do not have to remind each person separately. If someone is still undecided, they can come back to the list later and see what is still free.
