Birthday wishlist

"What do you want?" comes back every year, and "nothing, really" helps nobody. Make one list, send the link to friends and family, and everyone sees what is already taken.

What should you put on a birthday wishlist?

Pick things you will actually use: books, things for the home, clothes, gear for a hobby, concert or theatre tickets. Mix the prices. A small item under 300 UAH is easy for a colleague, something around 1500-3000 UAH suits close friends, and one big wish can be a group gift.

You add a wish by pasting a link from any store. Bazha usually pulls in the title, photo and price, so there is little to type by hand.

What budget should you set?

Think about who is giving. Acquaintances and colleagues are comfortable with up to 500 UAH, friends often go higher, and family may take on a bigger item. Those limits are only an example: you know your circle better than any average. What matters is that the list has something for every budget.

How do you avoid two identical gifts?

Send the link in a chat. A guest opens the list without an account, picks an item and reserves it. Reserving takes a quick password-free sign-in, either an email link or Google. After that everyone else sees the item is taken and picks something different.

How do you split the cost of an expensive gift?

Add the big item to the list, say headphones or a coffee machine, and say in the chat that it is for a group gift. One organiser reserves it, collects the money in the chat and buys it. Everyone else sees it is in progress and does not buy it separately. Guests agree on who pays how much among themselves. Bazha does not collect money.

A sample birthday list

  • A book you have wanted to read for a while: 300-500 UAH
  • Candles or a diffuser for the home: 400-800 UAH
  • A board game for the group: 800-1500 UAH
  • A concert or theatre ticket: from 600 UAH
  • Wireless headphones, as a group gift: 2000-3500 UAH

The amounts are rough guides. Store prices vary.

Which birthdays is a wishlist good for?

A wishlist works for adult parties and for a child's party: parents get a list of what the child really wants instead of a fifth identical building set. It also helps at a big anniversary, where many guests barely know each other. For colleagues it is enough to say the link exists, and whoever wants to use it will.

When should you share the link?

Two or three weeks before the day, so people have time to choose and order. Drop the link in a shared chat, post it in a story, or send it to whoever asks. One link replaces answering the same question for each person separately.
